Let me update you on our lives. First let's start with Graham since, ya know, he tends to come first around here...
Graham
-Today he is one month old. One month!!! More on that later. I've got a special post just for him coming later.
-Graham is seriously the loudest eater ever. When I nurse him he gulps and squeals like nobody's business! So much for trying to be discreet in public.
-He has been pretty fussy lately. And by pretty, I mean really. I think it's because these darn antibiotics I'm taking right now. I feel terrible and we've still for a whoppin' 6 days to go on them.
-My babe is changing everyday. One day I think he looks like papa, and the next I think he looks like momma. He is such a great mix of the two of us and I love trying to pick out what qualities he got from each of us! (Danny's forehead, eyebrows, eyes, and expressions...my fingers, ears, lips, and cheeks...)
-Graham is growing a new love for his swing, which momma appreciates more than ever. Why, hello, both hands! Nice to see you both free again!
-He really is growing! He is longer everyday, but I am still not seeing a lot of baby chub yet. I do, however, think some of his newborn jammies are getting too small! Noooo!!!!
-Graham also loves his bath now. He just lays there quietly while we wash him and speak lovey to him. He especially loves bubbles!
-This past week we started putting Graham in his crib for the first stretch of the night (about 3 hours). Getting him to fall asleep is a challenge, but once he's out he does great. It has been a really great thing for Danny and I to get some time alone to go over the day and pray together uninterrupted before bed. The rest of the night & morning is spent co-sleeping. I sure do love that part, too!
Papa
-Danny is a seriously incredible dad. I saw the potential in him from the very beginning, but now I get to see him live it out on a daily basis. He changes diapers, swaddles, and changes Graham like a pro.
-While I've been on maternity leave, the ministry has been in Danny's hands. He has rocked it- handling all of the worship scheduling, teaching, organization, administration, etc. I am a proud wife and co-worker.
-Danny makes me laugh like no other, especially when I need it most. I am so thankful for a smart, funny, witty husband who can make me smile when Graham pees all over me. Or our curtains. Or our kitchen counter. Or his brand new outfit. Or...
Momma
-I recently told Danny that I feel like a zombie 40% of my days. Ah, sleep deprivation...
-I also got mastitis late last week, which was a terrible surprise to wake up to one day. It took me about 12 hours to figure out what was wrong. (high temp, chills, body aches, etc.) Luckily I got into the doctor the next day and have been on antibiotics since. Am feeling much better now!
-The days fly by so quickly, how do mommas have time for things like housework, nail painting, and hair curling? I've come to terms with the reality that I just can't do it all. Hence, my two-week vacation from blogging. Oh well!
-While getting meals for 2 weeks was an amazing gift from my friends and family, it has been good to get back in the kitchen. I even have a couple recipes to share!
Home
-2 or 3 days before Graham was born we had an earthquake that was centered in our very own city. It sure spooked us in the middle of the night, but we didn't think much else about it until Danny walked into the garage the next morning to water everywhere. (Including our downstairs bathroom and hallway.) A hot water pipe had broken in our bedroom and leaked all night through the walls and downstairs. We got it fixed that day, thank goodness, but it has taken weeks for them to do repair work (new flooring, paint, wall repair, etc.) . As of last Wednesday we've finally had the house to ourselves! Hoorayyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!
There's more to share but my baby is sleepin' and there are other things to be done. Be back tomorrow!
Love,
me
