babies.

Emma-Jackson-Kyla-Micah...youngest to oldest

These are the super-adorable kids of my sweet friends.
The only one I can claim as mine in this picture is the chair they're sitting on. Wah-wah.
Oh well, at least I can now say it seats 4 instead of 1.5

This weekend D & I hunkered down on the couch with a big ol' bowl of popcorn to watch Babies.
Watching D cringe at the poop-moisturizer and turn his head at all of the topless mommas could only be handled for about 15 minutes. I'll be finishing it Friday by my lonesome.

The 4 babies above, on the other hand? We can watch them all day!
*hint hint*

marcel.

a little video to make you smile on this rainy Monday morning:

MARCEL THE SHELL WITH SHOES ON from Dean Fleischer-Camp on Vimeo.

My favorite parts...
"Guess what I wear as a hat? A lentil!"
"One time I nibbled on a piece of cheese and my cholesterol went up to 900..."
"Guess what my skiis are? Toenails from a man..."
"Guess what I use as a beanbag chair? A raisin..."
"Guess what I do for adventure? I hang glide on a dorito..."

smile. & have a great week.

he's got the whole world..

Anyone else been super emotional about the Chilean miners lately?
(No? Ok, how about just emotional? Ya, I've been that too...)

This makes me cry every time I watch it.

I read that the men wore shirts with this verse on it:

"In his hand are the depths of the earth and the mountain peaks belong to him."

-Psalm 95:4

Someone said to me yesterday, "These guys are going to make God famous!"

Agreed.

God is good. (all the time.)

to georgetown we go.

This was the second to last day of our holiday this summer: a day in DC. We walked around the monuments for a bit and then headed up to Georgetown, which was by far the highlight of our trip. We spent the day walking through shops, reading new books, walking through shelves of old ones, holding hands, eating, metroing, and enjoying time alone as husband & wife.
(Because as fun as a family vacation is, it's really great to sometimes be the Unterkofler party of 2!)

PS it's 4:42 am now and my eyes have refused to close since approximately 3:10.
I think I'll wake D soon and ask him to take us on a walk.
this is the benefit to my troubling sleep patterns: oh, how I love dark & early mornings!

duvet.

our duvet, which we have affectionately called "big white" is getting a little, uh, non-white.
so we're on the search for something new!

these days.

These days I've been...

-taking lots and lots of walks in our new neighborhood. (we love it more & more everyday. what a gift! will bring along a camera for our next one to show you what I mean.)
-really into multigrain cheerios. yum.
-loving my fall candle. I have given up the don't-light-it-too-often-because-it-will-end syndrome. Light it up, baby!
-sleeping really, really well. hallelujah. seriously.
-missing having a (functioning) kitchen oven. sigh, that is a story for another day.
-cooking pizza on the grill. it is the BEST!
-keeping my ferns alive.
-bundled up. this little 1920's house is seriously lacking in the warmth department. I'm pretty sure I'm ok with it...ask me again in 2 months.
-hosting lots & lots of dinners. feels good to use the house for what we got it for.
-getting a head start on my Christmas shopping. feels so good.
-being grateful for my momma. i love her.
-hanging out with lots of fun, crazy students.
-lovin this cute face.
