new position

Well...it's official. Today was my first day as "Director of Student Ministry". I am both incredibly excited and humbled to be taking on the challenge. We love this church and the community we belong to. Our dreams are to invest in student after student, plant our roots deep down, grow and develop our faith, equip leaders, make mistakes, learn from them, walk in the steps of Christ (literally...a trip to Israel is prayerfully to come), build relationships with other couples, and hopefully one day even raise our children here. But we'll see, won't we? God's plans for us can be so different than those we make for ourselves.

When I quit my job in November I had no idea what was next. I just knew I had to be obedient to the call I felt on my heart. It was a leap of faith, to say the least, and looking back I can hardly believe I took the jump. (Being unemployed for 3 months without a job in sight is just not like me. It makes me anxious just thinking about it. Strange that I never felt that anxiety in the midst of it.) But here I am, safely standing on the other side. I have a job I couldn't have dreamt up, belong to a welcoming, broken, humble, and loving church body, and serve weekly alongside my husband-to-be. It couldn't be a better fit for us. Seriously.

As to how we got here? Well, that's another story I'll have to share sometime. Let's just say God is sovereign and has provided abundently for Danny and I. There's just something about knowing you are in the midst of God's will. It is sometimes terrifying, but safe. Sometimes ugly, but beautiful. Sometimes hard, but simple. Sometimes heartbreaking, but joyful. It's just...well, it's altogether wonderful and it's just where I want to be.

Wow, God...you are so good. Sometimes thank you seems so inadequate. But here it is anyway.

Thank you.

PS You like the new last name?  :)

5 left some love:

  1. Congrats Sweet Girl! Wow...such a blessing filled year for you, huh? I have to laugh when I think of the day we met at Panera Bread for lunch and you showed me the name "Unterkofler". It seemed so foreign, but is soon to be YOURS! Amazing. I can now not only say it, but spell it without thinking twice! The cards are beautiful, but the most beautiful thing is, well...YOU! Joy!!!
